So this weekend marked the last chance I had to get a few more miles in before the actual ride next weekend. I took Good Friday off from work and went for a ride in the morning by myself. I started at Lake Walter E. Long and did a 28.6 mile loop. Before I left, I checked the weather because I was afraid it might be too windy. But when weather.com says 10-12mph I figured I'd be safe....not so much. It was pretty dang windy and I checked the weather afterward, and lo and behold, the weather man had underestimated by about 100%!! How can you be wrong by so much so often and still get paid?? I wish my job was like that!
Saturday morning I met up with some friends and did a 39.3 mile loop from the Arboretum out to Mansfield Dam and back. On the way back on the 2222 downhill, my computer says I hit a max speed of 48.5mph!! That's a new world record (for me)!
Those two rides this weekend bring my total training mileage up to 543 miles! I think I'm actually ready...
